Episode 147. Self-Care Isn’t Radical

Today’s topic is sparked by something that happened to me. I was invited to do a presentation in a self-care retreat. I wanted to talk about chaos in motherhood and how it’s the perfect place to take care. But somehow, they changed the title of my topic to Radical Self-Care in Motherhood.

We always see topics surrounding radical self-care and how self-care is a radical act. But actually, it’s quite the opposite. In this podcast episode, I talk about why I believe we shouldn’t be thinking of self-care as radical. It can be as normal brushing your teeth.

[02:12] For a lot of mothers, self-care happens in ordinary moments or between them. When we think about self-care as radical, it is less likely that we do it.

[03:12] When we change our view, when we change our perspective, we change our actions, too. This change in perspective can help us to reach our care goals.

Self-care, especially for busy moms like us, doesn’t have to take extra time and effort or cost extra money. The more we think of it this way, the harder it is to do it. The right care activities for us are the things that can fit easily into our busy lives as mothers.
