Motherhood has always been stressful. Now, it’s become even more so not just inside motherhood but outside in the world. I’m seeing more mothers joining what is sometimes called the wine-mom culture. I asked my free mom community if they consider regular evening wine time as self-care, and I got varied answers.
Moms are always busy because they always take care of all the things around them. They rarely have time to take care of themselves. Teaching moms to take care of themselves while they’re still taking care of all other things is what this podcast is about. Today’s episode is about wine mom culture. Can that regular wine time be a care ritual?
Here are some discussion points.
[01:50] When does wine time become a problem?
[02:33] Making wine time a conscious-not-cliche care ritual that can offer not only relief but also resilience.
[04:30] How too much drinking can pull you away from the safe and social state you seek.
This is not only about wine time. It can be coffee or tea or ice cream. It can be shopping or anything that may become addicting. These habits start off as self-care at first but can become a go-to habit. Sometimes one glass can lead to a bottle and this leaves you feeling worse the next day. So the next time you reach for that glass of wine, ask yourself, “Am I making a conscious choice here?”
I hope that I help you choose your care rituals competently and consciously today. Our goal here is to make every mom feel good about taking care of themselves.
