Like me, I know that there are moms out there who are not fans of working out. You may be surprised to hear that from me – a former yoga teacher, and a longtime yoga practitioner. If I could get the results of exercising from other activities that don’t need breaking a sweat, I won’t do it at all. But research and personal experience prove that exercise gives us incredible benefits. And it’s not just about the body – it helps us keep it together especially during the ups and downs of motherhood.
We have so many things to do that we don’t have the time and energy for, and exercise is the first to go. In this episode, let’s talk about why it is one of the most important things to do. Here are some points to listen out for:
[02:17] Working out isn’t only for our physical health. Why I teach exercise under the Think Good Thoughts principle in CORECARE.
[03:28] Shift the focus from the physical and longterm benefits. Losing weight isn’t the only benefit of exercising.
[04:31] How exercising makes us feel good and amazing, in the moment.
[05:50] Exercise helps our brain grow and function, and why that’s a good thing.
[07:20] My recommendation on how to get exercise into your day.
Exercise is more than losing weight and being able to wear skinny jeans. It’s an investment with immeasurable returns. It strengthens not only our muscles but also our brain. We can change how our brain functions to become more efficient and faster by exercising. I’m hoping this episode motivated you to move and exercise this week as a way to take care of yourself.
